Magician
The Magician was a popular automaton in the past centuries. Usually the Magician is hiding one or two objects on the tabletop under one or two cones or under a screen. When he (sometimes she) raises the cones/screen we can see that the objects on the table have changed. The secret is that the mechanism inside the table changes objects when the cones or the screen cover the tabletop.
Like many of Zaya-Ruzo's automata, this mechanical doll is more advanced that its "older brothers". He has 5 movements: head (up-down and side-to-side), left hand with the spade and silk screen, right hand with the "wand", and the drum with five pairs of objects. Plus, along with music you can hear a gong at the moment when the wand touches the screen, when the "magic" happens.
The head of the doll is made of porcelain. The figurine is approximately 12 inches tall. This automaton was custom made in January 2004.
