Peggy Playing with Marionettes

This big doll, Peggy, has three movements, for her head and both hands. One of the three marionettes, the Shepherd, is "playing" the pipe, while the other two, the sheep, "dance" to his music.

The Shepherd's head is made of porcelain. The background landscape is a real oil painting on canvas. The music movement is a 37-note-precise mechanism, playing a Mozart tune. The automaton has a unique "gravitation motor." To wind it up, pull down the lever on the side of the box, which may be hung or placed on a horizontal surface.
