Rosalinda on the Roof

Rosalinda is still a young witch - she hasn't even turned 400 yet. Sometimes she likes to play, just like human children. She sits on the roof of her hut and blows bubbles.

The automation is on a table designed in the style of a doll house, veneered with rosewood. This is a unique automaton with 9 moves: during the performance Rosalinda nods her head up and down and side-to-side, and moves her torso, eyes, hand and foot. She also blows out the soap bubbles. The Broom moves too. Meanwhile, the musical mechanism plays the tune.

All mechanical parts are made of steel, brass and wood. Rosalinda's head and hands are made of porcelain; her dress is fabric. The spring winding motor was specially designed for this automaton.

Additional features are the "on-off" lever made in the form of weathercock (or, here a "weathercat") and front window shutters which expose the mechanical "heart" of the automaton.

Here is a video of the witch's action.
